About CUET

Test (CUET (UG) - 2022) is being introduced for admission into all UG Programmes in all Central Universities for academic session 2022-23 under the Ministry of Education, (MoE). The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will provide a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from rural and other remote areas and help establish better connect with the Universities. A single examination will enable the Candidates to cover a wide outreach and be part of the admissions process to various Central Universities

Eligibility Criteria for CUET (UG) 2022

The eligibility criteria for candidates who will appear for the upcoming CUET (UG) 2022 is given below:

  • Candidates who have passed the class 12th or equivalent examination or are appearing in 2022 irrespective of their age can appear in the CUET (UG) – 2022. However, candidates have to fulfil the age criteria if it is specified by a particular University to which the candidate wishes to apply.
  • There is no age limit for candidates who want to apply for CUET (UG) 2022.
  • The existing policies of respective Universities with regard to reservations, qualification, subject combinations, etc. will be applicable to candidates for admission into these Universities through CUET (UG) – 2022. Therefore, candidates should carefully read the eligibility criteria of Universities to which they wish to apply.
  • Candidates have to fulfil the programme-specific criteria laid down by the Universities they wish to apply for.

 

Scheme of CUET (UG) 2022 Examination

CUET (UG) 2022 will be a Computer Based Test (CBT). It will comprise Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The total marks allotted for each section is 200 and every question will carry 5 marks. There is negative marking and 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. The CUET exam is divided into three sections, namely:

  • Section IA – 13 Languages (As a medium and “Language”)
  • Section IB – 20 Languages
  • Section II – 27 Domain-Specific Subjects
  • Section III – General Test

Points to Remember: CUET (UG) 2022

  1. Candidates can choose any Language/Domain specific Subjects/General Test or a combination as per the requirements of the course in the specific University.
    • Section IB has to be attempted only if candidates want to join a degree programme in any one (or more) of the 20 languages.
    • Section II will test candidates in the core subjects that they wish to pursue.
    • Section III is not compulsory. Candidates need to write this test only if it is a requirement for the degree programme they are applying to.
  1. The choice of Tests/Subjects depend on the course/s chosen by the candidate and the University/ies where admission is sought. A Candidate can take a maximum of 9 tests in the following manner
    • Maximum of 2 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together, maximum of 6 Domain Subjects from Section II and General Test from Section III. OR
    • Maximum of 3 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together, maximum of  5 Domain Subjects from Section II and General Test from Section III.
  2. Candidates should select those Domain Subjects that they have already studied in class 12. In case a particular subject is not there in the CUET Domain Subject list, then candidates can choose a subject that is most similar to what they have studied in class 12.

In order to opt for Languages, domain-specific Subjects and General Test, the Candidate must refer to the requirements of his/her intended University.

Important Note: It is not mandatory to choose any one or more of the tests given in the table above. The choice of tests should depend on the course/s opted by the candidate and the University/ies requirements where admission is sought.

Medium of the Examination

Candidates can choose the medium of the examination while filling in the online application form. The tests are offered in 13 languages (other than the ‘Language’ test) and candidates have to  choose any 1 language from the list given below. Candidates should go through specific University’s eligibility criteria before selecting the medium of examination. Candidates can choose any 1 language as their medium of exam from the following list:

  8. Marathi

  11. Tamil
  12. Telugu
  13. Urdu

Note:

  • Section II related to domain specific subjects and Section III related to General test will be bilingual i.e. in English and in one of the 13 languages chosen by the candidate. If there is any discrepancy, the English version will prevail except for “Language” Tests (Section 1A & 1B)
  • Language test is different from the medium of the examination. Language test tries to evaluate the proficiency/skills of the candidate in the Language chosen by him/her. The Question Paper of the “Language” Test will not be bilingual.

 

Duration of the Exam

The exam will be conducted in 2 slots per day as per the schedule released by the NTA. Details of the duration and exam timings are given below.

Note:

  • * Total duration will vary based on candidates’ choice of sections in the given slot.
  • PwBD candidates will be given compensatory time of 15 minutes for 45 minutes examination and 20 minutes for a one-hour examination.
  • Slot 1 (morning shift):  In slot 1, a candidate can take up to 4 tests only (One Language from Section IA, a maximum of two domain-specific Subjects from Section II and One General Test from Section III)
  • Slot 2 (afternoon shift): In slot 2, a candidate can take up to 5 tests as follows:
  • One Language from Section IA & IB and a maximum of four domain-specific Subjects from Section II, or
  • Two Languages from Section IA & IB and a maximum of three domain-specific Subjects from Section II.

Application Fee for CUET (UG) 2022

  • Application fee has to be paid online only through Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card/UPI, or Paytm Services
  • Processing charges and GST have to be paid in addition to the application fee.
  • Confirmation Page of the online application form will be generated only after the successful payment of the application fee. If candidates are unable to access the confirmation page then they should contact the bank/payment gateway on the helpline number and email given in the ‘Information Bulletin’ released by the NTA.
